A provider of illegal Premier League streams has been sentenced to 11 months in prison in Lebanon for five charges involving intellectual property and cybercrime. The defendant’s conviction marks a significant legal development in the fight against illegal sports streaming. This landmark ruling highlights the growing efforts to tackle online piracy in the world of football broadcasting.

In addition to the prison sentence, the convicted individual was also ordered to pay more than $90,000 (£69,000) in fines and damages. This financial penalty serves as a deterrent for others involved in similar illegal activities. The ruling underscores the serious consequences of distributing unauthorized content online.

The conviction resulted from a joint effort by the Premier League, Sky, and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE). It was further supported by the Lebanese Cyber Crime Bureau.
